We’re pleased to announce a new partnership with the Stabiliser Cattle Company, improving access to Stabiliser genetics, nutritional advice and technical support for beef producers across Ayrshire and southern Scotland.

The collaboration is believed to be the first of its kind between a UK agricultural merchant business and a beef genetics company, bringing together expertise in cattle breeding, nutrition and on farm support to deliver greater value and improved performance for commercial beef producers.

Through the partnership, Stabiliser genetics become more accessible to producers in the region, with stronger local support for both new and existing breeders, backed by our nutrition and technical teams.

The Stabiliser is a composite beef breed developed to produce the best maternal cows available, combining 50% British Native and 50% Maternal Continental genetics. The breed is backed by data, allowing breeders to use EBVs as a selection tool alongside strong phenotypic performance. Its maternal performance helps improve fertility, calving ease, longevity and feed efficiency. The ability to consistently produce high quality, uniform calves with excellent growth rates and strong carcase performance has made the Stabiliser an increasingly popular choice for progressive beef producers looking to improve efficiency and profitability.

Together, our two organisations will help producers access the genetics, nutritional advice and technical support needed to build more efficient, profitable and sustainable beef enterprises.

Ian Houston, our Chief Executive Officer, said:

“We’re delighted to be partnering with the Stabiliser Cattle Company. Stabiliser genetics, backed by strong data and proven performance, are a great fit alongside the nutritional and technical advice we already provide our members. We’re looking forward to working closely with the Stabiliser team.”

Derek Watson, Chairman of the Stabiliser Cattle Company, said:

“This is an exciting project. We look forward to working closely with Tarff Valley to expand the Stabiliser breed in Scotland, helping farmers improve performance and efficiency. We will be organising joint events and open days for 2027.”

We’re looking forward to supporting Stabiliser breeders and commercial beef producers across the region, with more details on joint events to follow in 2027. Visit stabiliser.co.uk to find out more, or speak to your local Tarff Valley rep about what Stabiliser genetics could mean for your herd.
