Are you interested in working in a Land-Based industry? Do you enjoy working in the outdoors? Would you like to earn whilst you learn? If the answer is yes to these questions, then a Pre-Apprenticeship might be for you!

Worried that you don’t have the skill base? Not a problem! Before starting your placement with your pre-determined mentor, you will have a three-week induction at the Barony College, Parkgate. Throughout this, you will be trained, and you’ll gain new skills. After completing training, you will be awarded a Certificate of Work Readiness.

Throughout your structured, 26-week, fully paid, work placement, your mentor will support you and provide you with an opportunity to commence your career within the land-based industry. The mentor will prepare you for work and will help set clear guidelines as to how you should behave and perform at work.

Once you have completed the programme, you will be awarded a Land-based Pre-Apprenticeship award (SCQF Level 4) which is accredited by SRUC*.

Application Process:

  • Send application form
  • Telephone Interview
  • Face to Face Interview
  • If successful, Pre-Apprentices will start their three week training in June with the 6 month placement starting at the beginning of July.

*please note that you must be 16 or over to undertake the programme.
